Indicators of the data compass console in the 1st row keep on

“Why all leds in the 1st Row keep on when I power on the Data Compass?”

A large number of clients has asked this quesiton through email and remote assistance. So it’s vitally necessary for me to explain the reason here.

Generally speaking, there are totally 2 reasons may cause this problem.

1st.Power supply.

There are still 2 possibilities for the case of power supply.

The 1st is the power supply for Data Compass console.A bad or pool contact causes power to fail occasionally. As is shown in the picture above, the last indicator on the 2nd row doesn’t light up in this situation.

The 2nd is the cable used for connect the patient drive and the data compass console.A poor contact of this cable can also cause that problem. In such case,we have to find a pincer to squeeze the interface as the pictures showed below.

2nd.Jumper setting

For Seagate and Maxtor drive,no jumpers or slave mode will cause the drive can not be detected normally, then the leds on the first console will keep on.So the drive should be set to the master mode to work properly.

The procedure is very easy for the seagate laptop drives, just remove all jumpers from the drive and then it will automatically turn to the master mode.

For the 3.5′ drives, you need follow the instruction on the lable to set the jumpers properly.

After setting the jumper to the master mode, the drive should be detected normally. That is to say,the data compass can detect the drive properly so the leds on the 1st Row won’t keep on.
