Case of B540

Today I encounter a case of B540, which can be detected but can’t be zerofilled by HD Doctor for Seagate. First, you should check whether the drive is read-only or not. Find a reserved sector to randomly write a byte and see whether the byte can be saved or not.

In this case, the drive can be written. So I think it’s the problem of firmware. As in HD Doctor, before zerofill, the program needs to set a password to the drive to ensure full zerofill of HDD. If the drive can’t be set password, zerofill will not carry out. I check the firmware and all modules are good, so I guess it’s the problem that drive can’t be set password in HD Doctor. And I ask client to use other tool to zerofill.
