Commands in Level T

Commands in Level T include: Cert Test, View Defect List, View Log and Read system information etc.

Command B is to set Baud Rate with the format Bx, in which x stands for Baud Rate. The command is actually to set Baud Rate of console box to be accordant with HDD. Thus, there is message output in terminal.

—x=0, default Baud Rate, 9600;

—x=1, to display the supported Baud Rate;

—x>=1,to set Baud Rate to be x.



Command V is to view defect lists with the format Vx, in which x stands for different defect lists.

—x=1, to view records of P-List;

—x=2, to view records of reserved defect list (defect list of service area);

—x=4, to view records of G-List.

Command i is to initialize defect lists with the format ix,y,z. This command is valid only when Cert is loaded.

Here x=1 stands for P-List;x=2 for reserved defect list and x=4 for G-List.

If parameter y is not input, it means to initialize defect list in memory.While y is input, it means to initialize defect list and save it to disk.

Parameter z is identifer. Only if z is euqal to 22, the command i is valid;otherwise it is ignored.

Command N is to set Age with the format Nx,y,z, in which x stands for Age;y is alwasys default value (no need to input). While for parameter z, it must be 22 for Barracuda family and no need to be input for U series, namely Nx for U series.


Command R is to read system sectors, which include information of head parameters, zone allocation and serial number etc, to corresponding cache for further call by memory.

Command E is to view Cert Log with the format of Ex,y,z, which is valid only when Cert is loaded.Every time the HDD runs selftest, it will recorde events during every test. Thus, engineers can view the log to help diagnosis of HDD malfunction.

X stands for each test,i.e., x=4E, x=2 and x=31 etc. Y means error code. Z is no need to input.



Command T is to run factory tests with the format Tx,in which x stands for different tests,namel different Age, i.e., T50, T31, T02 etc. The command in only be executed when Cert and Cert are valid and Cert is loaded.



Command Y is to
set drive type with the format of Yx, in which x stands for new drive type. Here drive type is somewhat in accordance with head map and the command can be used to disable head.
