For some problem 7200.11 series drives, in computer BIOS, it may shows error module number and capacity. When we connect it to the Seagate Doctor, the error info may shows as follow:

Actually, it’s a 7200.11 drive with 1.5TB capacity, but now both the module number and firmware number are error code, and the capacity just detect as 8GB.
The reason of the problem is that: for 7200.11 series, it has stored some special module info in the PCB (like ST_M13FQBL, as the parameter shows). So if the drive has some problem, maybe the head problem, firmware problem or bad sector problem…any problems that cause the drive could not be detected, then the computer will read the PCB info and show this error info as above.
To solve this problem, we could try to connect it with Seagate Doctor, solve it as fix the LBA=0 problem (yes, the LBA=0 problem caused by verify code error, and this error may also cause this problem), but if it not work, we have no idea at this time.
There is another typical problem, for some 7200.11, when we connect to the doctor and all connection is good, but we still couldn’t get any info in CMD mode.
First, pull
this button on the top of CMD mode, and then press “Ctrl + Z” continuously, it may show the CMD command F3 T>.
Second, this is a 7200.11 ES2 version, for this version, we need to short some circuit points on PCB, and then we could get command in CMD mode.
Third, if it always shows nothing when the connection is well, even pull
is still invalid. And it’s not ES2 version, maybe we don’t support this PCB. You could check the PCB version and sent this number to us; we could check whether our product could support this PCB.
